Akron homicide victim’s body goes unclaimed

Beacon Journal staff report

Authorities have yet to identify family members of a 21-year-old Akron man who was shot and killed during an argument last week.

Amandeep Singh was killed Sept. 12 during and argument with another man on Alphada Avenue. Singh, a native of India, lived on East Tallmadge Avenue.

Gary Guenther, an investigator with the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office, said efforts to reach Singh’s family have not been successful. Guenther is asking anyone with information about Singh’s family to contact his office at 330-643-2101.

Court records show Singh also lived at a Fairway Park apartment in Copley Township. He was recently paroled from prison after serving two years for robbery and assault.

Akron police arrested Marcus L. Turner, 36, who was being held in the Summit County Jail on aggravated murder and felonious assault charges.

Police say the shooting took place when Turner and the victim were arguing in the 1400 block of Alphada Avenue, near Brittain Road and East Tallmadge Avenue.
