Akron killer who fired gun into nightclub will be up for parole in 2052

Beacon Journal staff report

An Akron man was sentenced Thursday to life in prison for firing a gun into a nightclub and killing a music producer.

Dontay Taylor, 23, will not be eligible for parole until 2052.

A Summit County jury last week convicted Taylor in the July 23, 2012, shooting death of Rahsaan Price, 38.

The shooting took place at the Embassy Lounge on Romig Road in southwest Akron. Police say Taylor became angry when he was denied entry into the club because of past misbehavior.

Taylor then went to a car, retrieved a pistol and fired eight shots into the bar.

Price, who was seated at the bar while working on a music video, was struck and killed. Two others were injured.

Taylor was convicted of murder and three counts of felonious assault.
