An Akron man is facing felony charges after police say he assaulted his nephew during an argument about a dirty microwave oven.
Paul R. Bard, 54, was arrested Monday on a charge of domestic violence against his 27-year-old nephew following a dispute inside a Julien Avenue home that they share.
The nephew told police he was hungry and wanted to make oatmeal in the microwave when the dispute began. He told police that Bard became angry about a mess in the microwave and attacked him.
During the quarrel, Bard is accused of choking and scratching his nephew’s arm. Police say they found scratches around the nephew’s arms and neck.
Bard was charged with a fourth-degree felony domestic violence charge because of a prior conviction on the same offense.
He remains in the Summit County Jail in lieu of a $1,000 bond set following an appearance in Akron Municipal Court.
