BATH TWP.: An Akron man was killed in a two-vehicle accident at 4:56 p.m. Monday at the intersection of state Route 18 and Hametown Road.
Lawrence K. Turner, 53, of South Portage Path was westbound on Route 18 when his GMC Sierra was struck by another vehicle and overturned, the State Highway Patrol said. He was taken to the Akron General Medical Center emergency department in Montrose where he was later pronounced dead.
Michael J. Borchert, 37, of Colony Hills Drive in Akron, was driving a Ford F-150 southbound on Hametown, failed to yield at a stop sign while turning left onto Route 18, and struck Turner’s vehicle, the patrol said.
The accident remains under investigation and no citations have been issued, the patrol said Tuesday morning.
Both men appeared to be wearing seat belts at the time, authorities said. It is not known if alcohol is a factor in the crash.
