Akron man suspected in slaying surrenders

An Akron man wanted on murder charges surrendered to police Thursday morning.

Lavaile Thomas Jr., 25, of Akron, was wanted in connection with the Nov. 19 shooting death of Deshawn D. Smith.

Smith, 23, was parked in a car on East Avenue when he was shot.

Thomas’ suspected accomplice, Dierre Laneal Robinson, 23, of Hillwood Avenue, surrendered to police Monday.

Both men are being held in the Summit County Jail.
