An Akron motorist was targeted with gunfire as he drove home on the city’s west side Saturday.
The man, 35,was not injured, police said.
He told police he was driving home and was near the corner of Garth and Hoye avenues about 4 a.m., when he passed a group of three men and two women. Someone from the group apparently fired at least two shots.
The victim said the rear windshield on his 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe shattered and he felt a burning sensation on his neck. He was not struck with a bullet.
Police say the .45-caliber bullet passed through the rear windshield, through the passenger seat head rest and into the front windshield, where it bounced and landed in the passenger seat. A rear tail light also was damaged.
Police say they went to the area of the shooting and could not locate any glass.
