Akron police looking for driver who hit construction worker, fled scene

Akron police are asking for help locating the suspect in a hit-skip crash earlier this month that injured a construction worker on Interstate 77.

Authorities released a surveillance video that shows the suspect get out of her vehicle and go into a gas station convenience store.

In a news release, police said the driver of the tan sport-utility vehicle seen in the video hit the worker at about 8 p.m. Sept. 9 on I-77 north of the Vernon Odom Boulevard exit and fled the scene of the crash.

Police said the SUV is possibly a Ford and likely has damage to the driver’s side.

Police are trying to identify the woman seen in the video. Anyone with information regarding the case can call the department’s hit-skip unit at 330-375-2508.
