Akron’s proclamation honors JFK as nation marks 50th anniversary of assassination

Across the country Friday, mayors participated in local events, issued proclamations and designated Friday as a solemn day of remembrance and reflection as the nation marked the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

In Akron, Mayor Don Plusquellic issued a proclamation (see attached) and asked churches to ring bells at 1:15 p.m. local time (12:15 Central Time to correspond with events in Dallas) and for citizens to observe a moment of silence at 1:30 p.m.
