A convicted child molester has been living in Akron under an assumed name in order to avoid registering his address with sheriff’s deputies, authorities said.
Frank McCloud, 44, was arrested Wednesday on charges of failure to register as a sex offender, tampering with records and identity fraud. He is currently jailed in Georgia, where he was convicted on child molestation charges in 1999.
McCloud pleaded guilty to the 1999 charges and served seven years in prison. When he was released in 2006, he was required to register his address as a sex offender in the state of Georgia.
Summit County sheriff’s deputies say they determined that McCloud came to Ohio in 2011 and assumed the identity of a man named Glenn Barker. He used a bogus birth certificate to obtain a state ID card in Ohio.
