Akron store clerk, husband robbed at gunpoint

Beacon Journal staff report

A Springfield Township husband and wife both became robbery victims when he came to pick her up from work Monday, police said.

The woman was working the gas register about 11 p.m. at the Marathon gas station, 2115 East Ave., when two armed men walked inside and demanded money and cigarettes. Meanwhile, her husband wound up being robbed, too, when one of the robbers went outside and confronted the husband before robbing him of his wallet.

The robbers then fled. The report does not indicate the amount of cash taken.

Anyone with information is asked to call Akron police at 330-375-2490. Anonymous tips may be left via the Internet at http://akronohio.gov/asp/tip.html.
