Two 14-year-old boys are in juvenile detention custody on delinquency charges alleging their involvement in a rash of vandalism last weekend at the Coventry Crossing neighborhood in South Akron.
The teens were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon, Akron police said. The boys were each charged with one count of burglary, three counts of vandalism and 18 counts of criminal damaging.
They are accused of slashing a large number of car tires, swimming pool liners and trampolines in the housing development.
Police have yet to put an exact number on how many residents were affected by the vandals, but residents estimate as many as 60 car tires were cut late Friday or early Saturday. The damage spree ran along Picadilly Circle toward Canterbury Circle and Abbey Lane.
