An Alliance man was arrested late Friday on two child pornography charges, after police executed a search warrant at 2217 S. Arch Ave.
Steven F. Slimak, 42, was charged with one count of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor and one court of pandering obscenity involving a minor.
Both charges were elevated to third-degree felonies due to Slimak’s conviction in Alliance in 2002 on similar charges.
He was convicted on disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented materials, pandering sexually oriented material and sexual imposition. He is currently a registered sex offender due to those charges, police said.
The new investigation involved the use of the Internet for downloading or sharing child pornography.
Numerous photos and videos believed to contain child pornography were seized. Several computers and hard drives were confiscated.
Assisting in the two-week-old investigation are agents of the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Slimak is being held in the Stark County Jail on $250,000 bond. He will have a preliminary hearing May 10 in Alliance Municipal Court.
