Arrest made in fatal Thursday night shooting

An Akron man was arrested Friday on murder charges after police say he shot and killed another man during an argument.

Marcus L. Turner, 36, was being held in the Summit County Jail on aggravated murder and felonious assault charges.

The identity of the victim, 21, has not been released.

Police say the shooting took place when Turner and the victim were arguing at 10:45 p.m. Thursday in the 1400 block of Alphada Avenue, located near Brittain Road and East Tallmadge Avenue.

The victim was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital where he later died from his injuries. An autopsy was to be conducted by the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Turner was arrested by Akron police detectives and the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force about 10 a.m. Friday.
