Bank deposit bag taken in Akron robbery

Beacon Journal staff report

A masked man jumped from behind a car and snatched a bank deposit bag from a pay-day lender employee, police said.

The 56-year-old woman was not injured during the robbery about noon Monday in the parking lot of Advanced America, 1684 W. Market St.

The woman told police she was walking to her car when the robber leapt from behind a car and wrestled the bag from her hands. The bag held an unspecified amount of cash and checks.

Police said the robber was a black male in his late teens or early 20s. He wore all black clothing, including a mask. He last was seen getting into a four-door, silver car, possibly a Chevrolet Impala, driven by a black female.

Anyone with information is asked to call Akron police at 330-375-2490. Anonymous tips may be left at http://akronohio.gov/asp/tip.html.
