CLEVELAND: A Bath Township man has been charged in a federal indictment with theft of government property, destruction of government property and making false statements to investigators, authorities said Monday.
Okey Wise, 64, allegedly committed the offenses some time in April while working as a supervisor at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He was arrested Friday, authorities said.
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Cleveland said the three-count indictment charges Wise with using his position to steal raw materials from the local VA Medical Center, including wiring and other mechanisms necessary for the center’s backup generator to function.
The indictment also charges Wise with lying to federal officials who were investigating the incident.
