Beacon Journal staff report
A body was discovered Friday in the Cuyahoga River at High Bridge Glens Park in Cuyahoga Falls.
Police received a call just after 5 p.m. from a park visitor for a man who was apparently “sleeping in the river.”
Police said the city’s fire department recovered the body of a 51-year-old homeless man. Authorities said he fell 50 feet from an observation deck into the water. His name was not released.
Charlene Traub, 67, lives in a nearby apartment complex. She said she was walking her terrier, Al, on the boardwalk when she looked down the ravine and saw the body near the shoreline.
She said the man, dressed in a green hoodie with a backpack nearby, was obviously dead. She said she didn’t believe the body was there for long.
“I just feel so bad for his mother. So bad,” she said.
