Body recovered in Plain Township lake

Beacon Journal staff

Authorities today recovered the body of a 19-year-old man who apparently drowned late Thursday in Plain Township.

The man has been identified as Brian Horne, according to the Stark County Coroner’s Office. His body was recovered from the area known as Central Allied Lake near the 4900 block of Middlebranch Road at about noon.

Rescuers were first called to the site at about 7:45 p.m. Thursday when a friend contacted 911 to report the possible drowning, said Plain Township Fire Chief Donald C. Snyder.

Plain Township firefighters and Nimishillen Township divers were later joined by the Summit County Dive Team. After an hour, the mode changed to a body recovery operation, firefighters said.
