An ongoing feud spilled over into a shooting on Interstate 77 that left a 3-year-old injured, police said Monday.
The boy was being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries at Akron Children’s Hospital.
The shooter has not been found.
Police say the child was riding inside a vehicle with grandmother, 47, and a girl, 8, about 11 p.m Friday when four gunshots rang out near the East Avenue exit of northbound I-77, police said.
Both children were in the backseat when the shots were fired. When the boy started to cry, the grandmother pulled her vehicle off the highway and saw blood coming from his right leg.
Police said the shooting “appears to stem from an on-going feud.” They did not elaborate.
The shooter was inside a four-door, tan- or cream-colored Ford Taurus or Toyota Camry.
