Brunswick couple attacked, robbed during Akron visit to look at used car

Beacon Journal staff report

A Brunswick couple who traveled to Akron to view a used car were instead assaulted by two men and robbed, police said.

The man, 54, and the woman, 53, came to Akron on Saturday and went to a home on Diana Avenue about 7:30 p.m. They were answering an ad on Craigslist in which a resident was selling a car for $350, police said.

Police said the married couple went to the house to view a car but when they arrived they were met by two men in the driveway.

The men pulled out handguns and one man hit the woman in the face before taking her purse. The men then fled. The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics for an injury to her nose, police said.
