Tallmadge police say a burglar kicked in a door to a Craig Drive residence after the homeowner ignored the man’s knocks.
Police say it is common for burglars to target homes during the daylight hours, and they often knock on a door to gauge whether anyone is home.
The latest incident happened about 11 a.m. Tuesday when a man drove up to a Craig Drive home and knocked on the door. The woman inside chose not to answer, and the burglar forced his way inside.
The woman hid in a closet while the burglar ransacked her home, police said. At one point, he opened the closet, causing the woman to scream. The man then fled.
Police recommend residents call 911 to report suspicious people or vehicles. Officers also advise residents to take down the vehicle’s license plate number.
