Child, 4, found in meth lab at Springfield motel

Beacon Journal staff report

Five people were arrested and a 4-year-old child was evaluated by doctors after Springfield Township police raided a motel room and uncovered a methamphetamine lab.

The child was examined at Akron Children’s Hospital and then handed over to Summit County Children Services, police said Friday.

Springfield police found the child with the adults inside a Red Roof Inn motel room Thursday. Officers went to the motel after receiving a tip from Akron police asserting that meth was being produced in the room, police said.

Police arrested Akron residents Yvette Ray, 39, Justin Delaney, 32, Jeffrey Guilliams, 40, and Edward Hervet, 39, and Barberton resident Stacy Hervet, 39. The five are charged with felony meth-related charges, police said. Additional charges are being considered. The suspects were being held in the Summit County Jail.
