Cleveland Browns practice report: DE Jayme Mitchell unexpectedly missing

By Nate Ulrich
Beacon Journal sports writer

The Browns (3-6) practiced today in preparation for their home game Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-6). Reporters were allowed to watch about 30 minutes of practice. Here’s what you need to know about the open session:

Defensive end Jayme Mitchell was not at practice during the open period. Mitchell has been dealing with chest and ankle injuries, but his absence was a surprise. Before practice, coach Pat Shurmur said Mitchell would be ready to play Sunday. A team spokesman said Mitchell missed practice for a personal reason.

Running back Montario Hardesty (calf) ran outside again like he did Wednesday. The rest of the team practiced in the field house.

Wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi (concussion) and cornerback Dimitri Patterson (knee) practiced again today after returning to action Wednesday.

Offensive lineman Tony Pashos practiced today at right tackle with the first-team offense. Artis Hicks took first-team reps at right tackle Wednesday.
