Coroner’s report on death of Ohio teen hit by stun gun is inconclusive

Associated Press

CINCINNATI: A coroner has been unable to determine what killed a teenager who died after he was hit by a stun gun in southwest Ohio.

The Hamilton County coroner’s report says the cause of death for 18-year-old Everette Howard Jr. remains unknown despite extensive testing since his August death.

Howard was at the University of Cincinnati for college prep classes. University police responding to a call about a fight at a dormitory say Howard came at them with balled fists and refused to halt. An officer used a stun gun, and Howard went into a fatal cardiac arrest.

The coroner says Howard didn’t have alcohol or drugs in his system.

Howard’s family’s attorney tells the Cincinnati Enquirer he plans to file a wrongful death lawsuit but is seeking more information.
