XENIA, OHIO: A county in western Ohio says its websites were hacked and that residents who use them may want to change their user name and password.
Greene County Auditor David Graham says the breach involved a web server that held public information on real estate and county services — nothing private. But he says the concern is that residents may have adopted the same user name and password they use for other, more sensitive accounts, such as bank accounts.
The county sheriff’s department is trying to track the hackers, and officials say they’re taking steps to make the server more secure.
Graham tells the Dayton Daily News the county east of Dayton keeps credit card numbers and other private data on internal servers, so that information was never at risk.
