A Cuyahoga Falls caretaker has been arrested on charges of using her elderly patient’s money to buy gems, according to Summit County sheriff’s deputies.
The investigation of Deborah Ramoz, 59, began in July based on concerns raised by the county’s Adult Protective Services of “possible financial exploitation involving an elderly victim.”
Sheriff’s detectives say they determined Ramoz took about $75,000 during an 18-month time span from her 87-year-old male patient and used the money to purchase gem stones from a California dealer.
Ramoz was arrested Thursday on a felony theft from the elderly charge. She was released on a personal bond following her arraignment in Akron Municipal Court.
Deputies on Friday searched Ramoz’s East Broadway Street residence and recovered a number of gems.
