TOLEDO: The death of a toddler found in a northwest Ohio garage has been ruled a homicide.
The skeletal remains of 19-month-old Elaina Steinfurth were found in the rafters of a Toledo garage in September after authorities spent months searching for the missing girl. The county coroner’s office said Wednesday that she suffered injuries indicating “non-accidental trauma.”
The office says there were severe, acute fractures to the girl’s arm and leg joints.
No one has been charged in the girl’s death.
Her mother and a man she had been dating are suspected of lying to investigators and have been charged with obstruction. They’ve pleaded not guilty.
The garage where the remains were found belongs to the man’s family.
