Akron police are investigating a shooting Tuesday that wounded an appliance delivery man.
Police Lt. Rick Edwards said a couple was moving into a home in the 2100 block of 5th Street SW when someone fired at the man and a delivery worker in the front yard.
Edwards said the shooting happened around 1:40 p.m.
Neither of the men were struck, but Edwards said, one bullet traveled through the front door and through a wall and struck another delivery worker in the leg.
The 24-year-old worker from Nex 2 New on Brown Street was taken to Akron City Hospital for treatment.
Akron Public Schools locked down nearby Pfeiffer Elementary School as a precaution.
“For our students’ safety, we always lock down the school when police notify us of activities outside of the school building that could compromise our safety,” APS spokesman Mark Williamson said.
Edwards said investigators are still working to determine what prompted the shooting.
