Dollar General robbed in Akron by robber with guns

Beacon Journal staff report

A cashier of an Akron discount store was robbed by a man armed with two silver-plated handguns, police said.

The unidentified gunman went inside the Dollar General Store, 994 Brown St., at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday and confronted a 24-year-old cashier. Police say the man had two guns, but drew only one when he demanded the woman surrender money from the cash register and to “hurry up.”

A report indicted the man took $245 before fleeing from the store. The clerk was not harmed.

Police say the suspect is a black male in his 20s, standing about 6-feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He wore a dark gray coat, black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.
