ROOTSTOWN: The Portage County Drug Task Force is sweeping the county armed with 35 arrest warrants for violations of state narcotics laws and other related charges.
Sheriff David Doak said the task force has been running undercover operations purchasing heroin, methamphetamine, prescription drugs and marijuana in the county over the past four months.
Today, the task force — with assistance from several local, state and federal agencies — will attempt to arrest the individuals named in the warrants. The warrants charge over 90 violations of state narcotics laws, according to the drug task force.
Task force agents made seven arrests last week for heroin trafficking in Ravenna and Streetsboro, a news release reported Friday.
