DAYTON, OHIO: Police in southwest Ohio say using a false name didn’t help a man detained after a fight because his real and fake identities had the same problem: Both were listed with active arrest warrants.
The Dayton Daily News reports 42-year-old Jerad Butler gave police a Social Security number linked to a man who matched Butler’s description and was wanted in central Ohio’s Morrow County. Butler was booked under the false identity before the jail determined that he actually had a different name and a separate warrant out for his arrest under the real name.
He was being held in the Montgomery County jail on a misdemeanor aggravated menacing charge ahead of a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.
Jail records did not list an attorney for Butler.
