Beacon Journal staff report

NEW FRANKLIN: An Ott Drive resident suffered minor injuries in a house fire Wednesday afternoon.

New Franklin firefighters were called to the home at 3:24 p.m. and found heavy fire venting from the roof, according to a news release from the department.

The fire was brought under control in about 35 minutes with assistance from Clinton, Coventry Township, Canal Fulton and Jackson Township firefighters.

New Franklin paramedics treated the man at the scene.

Investigators said a gas leak caused the fire. Damage to the structure and contents was estimated at $100,000.
