DAYTON, OHIO: Two fired elections board members from Ohio are calling for the state’s elections chief to step down from the state ballot board for missing a critical fall ballot deadline in the battleground state.
Thomas Ritchie Sr. and Dennis Lieberman of Montgomery County allege Secretary of State Jon Husted erred by failing to convene the ballot board he chairs in time to prepare the argument against November’s Issue 2. They say the panel, which Husted chairs, was to write the argument for voters to read because the Legislature didn’t.
Husted spokesman Matt McClellan called the claim outlandish. He said the ballot board approved the arguments and met the deadline.
Husted fired Ritchie and Lieberman from their county election panel for refusing to rescind weekend voting hours as he’d ordered.
