Gov. John Kasich on Tuesday announced the appointment of Jane Margaret Davis to fill a vacant judge’s seat in Summit County Common Pleas Court.
Davis, of Hudson, will assume the office July 8.
She must run in November 2014 to retain the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends Jan. 4, 2017. She fills the vacancy created when Elinore Marsh Stormer was elected probate judge last fall.
Davis received a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in industrial relations from the University of Cincinnati. She received her law degree from the University of Akron School of Law.
Since 2005, Davis has practiced law as a self-employed pro bono attorney.
The county Republican Party had said she was its top pick for the position.
Last fall, she ran unsuccessfully for Summit County Council.
