Green crash victim identified as Canton resident

GREEN: Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal traffic crash early Sunday morning in Green.

William B. King III, 35, of Canton, died when the car he was driving he hit a tree on Greensburg Road just before 2 a.m., according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.

King, who was the driver of a red Chevrolet Cavalier lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road before striking the tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said King was not wearing a seat belt and speed appeared to be a factor in the crash.

The medical examiner’s office did not say if alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
