Gunman takes a few dollars in Dollar General robbery

Akron police say a man used a gun to steal $3 to $5 from a cashier at a Dollar General store.

The armed robbery took place about 8:30 p.m. Saturday inside the store at 1537 Brittain Road. No one was injured.

Workers told police the masked man entered the store and approached a checkout counter. He pointed a gun at a cashier and took the couple of dollar bills from a register before fleeing.

Police say the robber is white and in his 30s. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt with white letters, black shorts, white socks, white shoes and a black mask.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Akron police at 330-375-2490. Information also may be provided anonymously by calling Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS(2677). Tipsters may qualify for a cash reward.
