State tournament

Madeline Brandt of Cloverleaf tied for fourth in the all-around standings with a score of 36.350 in Saturday’s state tournament at Hilliard Bradley High School.

Other local individual qualifiers in the top 30 all-around were North Canton Hoover’s Kathleen Shier, placing 21st with a score of 34.875 and Medina’s Samantha Borrelli finished 29th with a score of 33.750.

Brandt finished 12th in the floor exercise with a score of 9.025 and 15th in the vault at 9.100.

Shier finished eighth in the vault with a score of 9.235.

Borrelli finished eighth in the floor exercise with a score of 9.200.

Hudson’s Logan Custer finished 11th in the floor exercise and tied for 12th in uneven parallel bars with scores of 9.075 and 8.725 respectively. Teammate Riley Skinner finished 14th in the balance beam with a score of 8.850.

State tournament

Junior Dylan Montgomery of Ravenna placed 11th among individuals at Saturday’s state tournament at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.

Montgomery rolled a high game of 247 on his way to a 624 total score.

Other local individual qualifiers include Nordonia’s Ryan Liederbach (233 high game, 577 score), Walsh Jesuit’s Ross Russell (207, 570) and Minerva’s Clayton Ward (178, 478).

State tournament

Perry finished seventh in Friday’s state tournament with a score of 2,487.

The Panthers were led by senior Heather Brownsword with a score of 560 and high game of 201, good for 15th place overall. Junior Taylor Nesselrode finished 23rd with a high game of 186 and score of 536. Junior Tara Myers finished 32nd with a high game of 188 and score of 518.

Jackson came in ninth with a score of 2,461.

Leading the Polar Bears was junior Autumn Heaton. Heaton placed 42nd with a high game of 192 and score of 501. Junior Taylor Sturm was right behind her with a high game of 197 and score of 495, earning her 48th place.

Springfield finished 14th with a team score of 2,387.

The Spartans’ top bowler was sophomore Chelsea Crihfield. She rolled a high game of 182 and had a score of 528, placing her 26th.

Other local individual qualifiers include Garrettsville’s Anna Brigham (186 high, 544 total), North Canton Hoover’s Kaleigh Barth (197, 501) and Stow’s Julie Nolte (161, 450).

Boys basketball

CVCA 56, North 53

The Vikings (4-19) gave the Royals (22-2) a run for their money, but CVCA prevailed in a Stow Division I sectional final.

Bob Peters led the Royals with 23 points.

Senior Damon Bowman led the Vikings with 15 points.

Alliance 44, Archbishop Hoban 43

JJ Kukura led all scorers with 25 points to lead the Aviators (15-9) to a Canton Division II sectional win.

Parrish Martin added 16 to the winning effort.

Saadiq Muhammad and DeAllen Jackson each scored 14 points for the Knights (17-6).

Kelsey Peare, Julie Worley and Kaylee Stroemple each scored nine points for the Vikings (21-4) in a North Canton Division I district final.

McKenna Stephens (14 points) and Baylen Dyrlund (10) paced the Blue Streaks (21-5).
