Junior Julie Worley scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds and junior Kaylee Stroemple scored 12 points and had eight rebounds for the Vikings (22-4) in a Division I regional semifinal win over the Raiders at Otterbein University.
The Vikings trailed 25-23 at halftime and went on a 10-6 run in the third quarter to go ahead. The Vikings made several big free throws late in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
“I’m very proud of the team,” Hoover coach Abbey Allerding said. “It was a collective team effort and rebounding was key. They did a great job.”
The Vikings play Lewis Center Olentangy Orange in a regional final at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Otterbein.
Nordonia 41, Brunswick 40 (OT)
Junior Eli Linder made a game-winning 3-pointer with 0.5 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Knights (21-3) a Division I district semifinal win over the Blue Devils (14-11) at Copley High School.
The Knights trailed 18-15 at halftime and 29-23 after the third quarter but outscored the Blue Devils 15-9 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.
Senior Chris Scott led the Knights with 17 points.
The Knights will play the winner of the Stow-Hudson game at 7 p.m. Saturday at Copley.
Lake 59, Youngstown East 42
Alex Belinsky scored 18 points, Mitchell Spotleson added 17 points and the Blue Streaks (21-3) defeated the Panthers (18-6) in a Division I district semifinal game at Alliance High School.
The Blue Streaks led 12-5 after the first quarter and 27-11 at halftime.
Chaese Vaudrin scored 12 points for the Blue Streaks.
The Blue Streaks will play the winner of the Green-North Canton Hoover game in the district final at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Alliance.
