A Hudson man was struck and killed by a passing train early Thursday morning in Portage County, sheriff’s deputies said.
Edward Dye, 43, was pronounced dead after being struck by the Norfolk Southern train near Ravenna and Diagonal roads in Franklin Township shortly after midnight.
Portage County sheriff’s deputies said they received a call from train operators after the locomotive struck someone who was trespassing on the tracks.
Dye was found and was initially conscious, but he later became unresponsive and was pronounced deceased at the scene, deputies said.
The Summit County Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy. An investigation is ongoing.
