Intruder breaks into West Akron home, steals $100 after confronting resident

Beacon Journal staff report

An armed man climbed through a window of a West Akron home Wednesday afternoon, confronted a man inside and stole $100, police said.

Police have identified a potential suspect, described only as an 18-year-old man. No arrest has been made.

Officers say the suspect slipped inside the Delia Avenue home about 12:30 p.m. and pointed a gun at a 19-year-old resident, who was playing a video game.

The victim struggled with the intruder, who fired a shot into a living room wall. He then grabbed $100 from a table and fled.

The resident was not injured, police said.
