Kent State student killed in fall through roof of abandoned Akron factory

Beacon Journal staff report

Akron police say a 19-year-old Kent State University student died early Saturday morning when she fell through the roof of an abandoned factory building at 219 Annadale Ave.

Adrienne L. Ryba, 19, of Sharon Township, was exploring the roof of the complex with her boyfriend and another couple when an unsupported roof gave way and she tumbled to her death.

Reports conflict about how far she fell — anywhere from 100 feet to 40 feet. She was dead when police and paramedics arrived.

Ryba graduated with honors from Highland High School in 2011.
