For the second time in as many weeks, Kings Island will attempt on Saturday to shatter another world record.
Park visitors will be invited Saturday to be part of an attempt to set a record for the most people applying sunscreen simultaneously.
The existing record in the Guinness Book of Records is 1,822 people applying sunscreen simultaneously set in Milwaukee on May 18.
Kings Island shattered the record of the most heads shaved simultaneously on Aug. 1 when 213 people gathered in front of the park’s famed fountains to have their hair shaved off.
The events are part of the Kings Island Kicks Cancer campaign — a new park initiative focused on raising awareness and funds for research, treatment and care in the fight against cancers affecting men, women and children,
The park is offering online "Kings Island Kicks Cancer Tickets" for $33.99. The one-day passes — at a $26 discount — are good through Aug. 24.
Visitors have the chance to kick a soccer ball into the park’s famed fountains. One kick is $5 or $20 for five. Kickers have a chance to win a 2015 Honda Fit.
The latest attempt will take place at noon at the Showplace Theatre on International Street.
Cincinnati Reds third baseman Todd Frazier will participate in the attempt to set a record.
Panama Jack is providing free sunscreen for the participants to raise awareness of melanoma.
