CUYAHOGA FALLS: Police said a 42-year-old man has been arrested for setting off a small explosive device Thursday morning outside the Cuyahoga Falls post office.

Shane M. Fraley of Cuyahoga Falls walked into the police department lobby at 7:25 a.m. and turned himself in to police, said Falls Police Capt. Jack Davis.

“We believe it was a homemade device,” Davis said.

Fraley told police he dropped the device inside a window well in the building at 2054 Second St.

He then went to the police department to confess to the crime.

Davis said they have no motive in the incident and believe Fraley picked the building at random.

Fraley is charged with unlawful possession and manufacturing of a dangerous ordinance, arson, vandalism and possession of criminal tools.

No one was hurt in the explosion, and the only damage was a broken window.

Cuyahoga Falls police and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service are investigating the incident.

Fraley is in custody and made his initial appearance in Stow Municipal Court for arraignment Thursday afternoon.
