Man pleads not guilty in gruesome killing of Canton woman

Associated Press

ZANESVILLE: An Ohio man has pleaded not guilty in the killing of a woman found covered in burns and wailing by the side of a rural road.

LaFonse D. Dixon Jr., of Canton, pleaded not guilty on Wednesday in Muskingum County court.

On Aug. 26, a driver found 29-year-old Celeste Fronsman on a road near Zanesville in eastern Ohio. She had been raped and burned and had a strap around her neck. She died two days later at a Columbus hospital.

Dixon’s attorney said her client says he didn’t do it and wasn’t there.

The 33-year-old Dixon pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder, kidnapping, aggravated arson and conspiracy charges.

Two women also have pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder, kidnapping and aggravated arson charges.
