An Atwater Township man was fatally shot during an altercation with another man early Sunday.
Kevin Bailey, 32, died of an apparent single gunshot wound to the upper torso, Portage County sheriff’s officials said Monday.
Bailey was shot about 2:30 a.m. at a residence on Alliance Road. The shooter is being questioned, but he has not been charged with any crime.
The man is being “very cooperative” with investigators, sheriff’s Lt. Gregory Johnson said.
Authorities would not release details of the shooting or what led up to the gunfire.
Johnson said there was an altercation and that the shooter might have fired in self-defense. The case remains under investigation, and a final determination on charges will be made by county prosecutors.
An autopsy is being conducted Monday at the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
