CANTON: McKinley High School varsity football coach Thom McDaniels has been hired to a second job in the district: assistant to the director of sports, recreation and physical education.
The Board of Education unanimously appointed him Monday night to the position at a salary of $46,960, Treasurer Jeff Gruber said.
McDaniels is expected to work 260 days a year. The contract is retroactive to April 1 and runs through June 30, 2015.
He will report to Ed Rehfus, the director of sports, recreation and physical education.
McDaniels’ job will include ensuring that sports programs adopt practices proven to make programs successful. He is also charged with helping to align school sports programs with others in the community.
Pay for the administrative position is in addition to his annual coaching stipend of $8,068.
