CLEVELAND: The coroner in Cleveland has ruled that a baby found in a plastic bag at an apartment building last fall died from asphyxiation and postpartum neglect.
The body in the plastic bag was discovered in the hallway of the building on the city’s east side on Oct. 17 by an emergency crew.
The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports that the coroner ruled the death a homicide caused by asphyxiation with postpartum neglect and environmental exposure.
A police spokesman said the investigation is ongoing, but the baby’s mother hasn’t been charged. A family member said the mother was questioned and released.
