Occupants escape house fire in Akron

The Akron Fire Department responded to a house fire on Beck Avenue between Crosby and Exchange Streets around 6:30 a.m. Four fire trucks and two ambulances were disbatched. The fire, which caused heavy smoke and flames to be visible through upstairs windows, appeared to be coming from the second or third floor. Crews were still working at 9:30 a.m. this morning. AKRON: A house on the city’s near west side was in flames Wednesday morning when firefighters arrived about 6:30 a.m.

The occupants of the three-story home got out safely after a fire broke out on the second floor of the home in the 100 block of Beck Avenue.

There is no estimate of damage, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire was reportedly under control by 7:05 a.m.
