DECATUR, OHIO: Authorities say a 9-year-old boy has died after being accidentally shot in the head.
The Hamilton County coroner’s office confirmed that Sebastian Schwartz of the southern Ohio village of Decatur in Brown County died Tuesday at a Cincinnati hospital.
Brown County Sheriff Dwayne Wenninger said the shooting happened Feb. 18 at the boy’s home. Wenninger said the boy got his father’s gun from the bedroom and was playing with it when his sister tried to take it away.
Authorities say the gun discharged, hitting the boy in the head.
Sheriff’s Lt. Tammy Dillinger says results of the investigation were turned over to prosecutors who will probably submit it to a grand jury to determine if any charges should be filed.
