Ohio jury convicts 3 more in ‘pill mill’ probe

Associated Press

CLEVELAND: A jury in Ohio has convicted a doctor and two other defendants in what was described as a cross-country online “pill mill” that catered to people looking for painkillers and anti-anxiety drugs.

The three were locked up by U.S. marshals to await sentencing Feb. 14.

With the conspiracy convictions Thursday in federal court in Cleveland, 13 people have been convicted in the plot broken up in 2010.

The alleged ringleader pleaded guilty last year.

Prosecutors say the operation attracted customers through websites, online banner ads, advertising in bathroom stalls at bars, and at a music festival in Miami.
