COLUMBUS: Ohio Gov. John Kasich says he directed the lieutenant governor to pay the state back for some plane trips she took.
Kasich said Monday that he understood there was a problem and had staffers tell Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor that she needed to make reimbursements.
The Columbus Dispatch reports Taylor wrote personal checks last month totaling about $1,040 to cover flights by an Ohio Department of Transportation plane to or from Akron-Canton Airport. It’s about 6 miles from her home in Green.
Aides to the state’s top two elected officials said last week that there was no wrongdoing on Taylor’s part but that the checks were meant to “remove any doubt.”
